Why your website needs an SSL certificate
Without SSL, browsers like Chrome and Safari label your site “Not secure”. That puts customers off, especially on contact forms and checkout pages. An SSL certificate for a website encrypts the data that travels between the visitor and your server, so passwords, phone numbers and card details cannot be read along the way.
Google has also confirmed that HTTPS is a small ranking signal. It will not move you up on its own, but a site without it starts at a disadvantage.
DV, OV and EV: the difference in plain words
All three types use the same strength of encryption. The difference is how much the certificate authority checks before issuing it.
If you are unsure, start with DV. Choose OV if a client, bank or tender document asks for it. A certificate that covers subdomains (a wildcard) is available on request.
- DV (Domain Validated): proves you control the domain, usually by email or a DNS record. Issued in minutes. Right for most business websites and blogs.
- OV (Organisation Validated): the authority also checks that your company is real and registered. Usually takes a few business days. Your company name appears in the certificate details.
- EV (Extended Validation): the strictest checks on the organisation. Browsers no longer show a green bar for EV, so for most sites OV gives similar trust. Available on request.
SSL certificate cost and what free SSL covers
If you host with us, you do not need to buy anything for basic HTTPS. The free certificate is a DV certificate, issued and renewed automatically through cPanel. For most websites that is enough.
You might want to buy an SSL certificate when your site is hosted elsewhere, when you need OV validation, or when a partner asks for a certificate from a commercial authority. Paid certificates are sold as yearly plans. Industry rules now limit how long a single certificate stays valid, so during your plan we reissue and reinstall it as needed at no extra cost.

Is free SSL as secure as a paid certificate?
Yes, the encryption is the same. A paid certificate adds company validation (for OV), support from a commercial authority and, in some cases, a warranty from the issuer. For most sites, free SSL is enough.
Can I purchase an SSL certificate if my site is hosted elsewhere?
Yes. We issue the certificate and either install it for you, if you give us access, or send you the files and step-by-step instructions for your host.
Do I need an SSL certificate in the UAE for an online store?
Yes. Any site that collects personal or payment details should use HTTPS, and payment gateways expect it. A DV certificate covers the technical side. Some businesses choose OV for added trust.
How do I choose the best SSL certificate provider?
Check that the certificate comes from a well-known certificate authority, that installation and reissues are included, and that someone will remind you before it expires. Price matters less than having it set up correctly.
Does a domain SSL certificate cover www and non-www?
Yes, our certificates cover both yourdomain.ae and www.yourdomain.ae. Other subdomains need a separate certificate or a wildcard, which we can provide on request.
